DM2 - Ecclesiology

This course consists of a systematic study of the church of Jesus Christ from the standpoint of Scripture. The goal is to provide an extended treatise of the important topic, the body of Christ. Topics include the definition of the church, the purpose of the church, the significance of the church, the uniqueness of the church, the mission of the church, the believer’s relationship to the church, and much more. The course begins with a broad overview of God’s ultimate plan for history and then seeks to explain how the church fits into that universal plan. After describing, defining, and differentiating the church from other entities, individual aspects of the church will be discussed. The goal in teaching these topics is to elevate Christ’s church in the student’s thinking by understanding the unique nature of this entity from Scripture.
